Rand Paul and the lies of political gain

This is an amazing exchange. Rand Paul, who is in no way qualified to say anything about viruses, tries to catch Fauci out. Fauci, who is no dummy, shuts him down easily, sine Rand Paul has no idea what he is talking about. This is an almost archetypal example of an ignorant politician trying to destroy someone for personal political gain. Disgusting.

If you say so.
You might be interested in watching Tim Pool as he walks us through those news sources and peer-reviewed journals as they go through what Doctor Fauci's organization was funding and how Doctor Fauci lied about it... .
Rand Paul Seeks CRIMINAL Probe Into Dr. Fauci, Paul is RIGHT NIH DID Fund Wuhan Lab And Here's Proof
I think it is funny that Paul thinks his ophthalmology degree makes him qualified to understand virology. You can hear by the vagueness of his accusations that he is just throwing things out there. He has probably been fed a bunch of BS by some conspiracy types, but he is sure eating it up.

He just has no idea what he is talking about. Embarrassing!

And good luck with that DOJ probe, Paul! HA!

Typical.
Show a liberal the actual documents that cover something that the Liberal wants to keep hidden and that liberal will simply state that that evidence is pure nonsense... .

If there is actual real data supporting your claim, where is the right-wing media on this? Where is the Fox expose'? Why hasn't Tucker Carlson brought out some conservative virologists to hammer home on this? Why? Because there is nothing there. All you have is a few YouTubers who don't know what they are talking about, cherry-picking phrases, and trying to connect dots.

If you hadn't noticed, the right-wing media is almost as screwed up as the left-wingers.
Most of the actual investigative reporting being done now is being done by these folks that you contemptuously call You Tubers... .
Tim Pool, by the way, is a Left-winger.
He just isn't radical about it.

You do Dr. Paul a disservice by your description of his credentials, which includes a medical degree from Duke University, board certifiction and licensing in the state of Kentucky, and recent clinical practice. It may be true that Fauci's credentials are more relevant to virology and immunology than Paul's but his recent experience in the medical field is administrative and his most recent relevant experience is with HIV/AIDS and furthermore his performance and results on that score received decidedly mixed reviews. We have here two strongly-willed and strongly-opinioned and medically-credentialled and experienced individuals with markedly differing expressed viewpoints given the same set of facts. That should be cause for some speculation on intent and motivation for their differing viewpoints, but not on their qualifications for expressing same.

Here’s what actual “disinformation” looks and sounds like.
My favorite is the part about the FDA approving all three vaccines.
The FDA has approved none of them.
They have 'Emergency Authorization':

I can't quite get with your assertion that they are in some way equally credentialed and experienced. In particular, I don't really believe that med school alone is a particularly important indicator. I teach at a med school, and I can tell you that med school is a slightly more advanced trade school, and that students are not really taught to problem-solve or think for themselves. They learn algorithms, based on complex data sets, but they are not investigators, nor critical thinkers. They are taught to 'fix problems'. And once they branch off into a specialty, especially anatomical specializations (surgery, ophthalmology, urology, sports medicine, GI, etc.) forget it. It is the lab people (including PhDs) who are taught the critical thinking skills. You think someone who does nose jobs (rhinoplasty) or repairs hips is somehow qualified to speak about virology? You can bet the medical community doesn't think so.

This is why, in my opinion, Fauci is far more likely to know what he is talking about. He is a lab guy, with many scientific publications. This is a problem that will be solved in a lab by people who understand that world. Rand Paul's experience is just not really that relevant. And it is clear from the hearings that he doesn't really understand all this. Plus, he is a politician, and what he is doing is politics right now (an ugly brand), not science.

No kidding? Maybe that is why so many people have already got the Trump vaccine.

That is not the same as FDA approval.
This was among the many lies and socialist talking points from the press briefing on 7/16/21.

So, you know, that is more than just competition about vaccines. The risk and impact there is that this type of information magnifies, you know, the risk of potential side effects associated with Western vaccines. This is what they’re — what the information — some of this misinformation is doing — and misleads the public by falsely alleging that mRNA vaccines are untested and, thus, risky, even though many of them are approved and have gone through the gold standard of the FDA approval process.

Trump vaccine - that is definitely funny. Why, I do remember seeing photos of him with test tubes and pipettes, directing the research! And then getting his vaccine, with his family, in a widely-covered photo op! And then filming a PSA to encourage all Americans to get vaccinated!

And you believe the Biden administration would have taken the necessary steps, as trump did, to ensure a vax was developed?

Well, Pfizer did it on its own, with no funding for research. It was Congress that provided the rest of the funding.

And yes, of course Biden would have done it as well. I can think of no president who wouldn't have. Signing the funding bill was hardly controversial. Anyway, Biden is a classic big-government democrat. Of course he would have created something similar. Maybe with a less dramatic name.
