Looks like 2024 election is repeat of 2020 (Biden vs Trump) with some differences

For me over past 3 years, cost of groceries has gone up 15%-25%+ depending on the item and NONE has dropped back in price. Local fast food prices have increased 20%-30%+ (Along with sit down restaurants) and anticipated to increase more with minimum wage increasing to $20/hour starting today for fast food workers.

Cheapest gas price is "down to" $5.59/gallon as of today. After being "shocked" at Ford Lightning price and dismal feedback from those that bought it, wife and I looked at getting another car/truck (No EV for us now as ICE cars/trucks will be banned by 2035 in CA) and price has increased 60-100%+ (We paid $17K for our daughter's Hyundai Elantra Value in 2019 and today, it's over $27K for comparable model ... And no sight of $25K small truck from Toyota ... Maybe by 2025). All the while, cost of healthcare has increased by $800/month ... Yes, PER MONTH!

I am really not liking the result of [Un]"Affordable Care Act" which to me simply shifted the healthcare payment burden of low/no income to those working/retired tax payers (My sister runs her own insurance agency and says ACA really benefited the insurance companies ) and my retirement pension COLA has only increased by $43/month.

There has been no "inflation reduction" for this voter the past 3 years. (And many around the country seem to be sharing that sentiment) (n) (n) (n)

Yes, even this reporting done by liberal Bloomberg may reflect changing national economic sentiment

"We are making less money now ... I don't see Biden's policies benefiting economy positively ... I see more interest in Trump now"

Bloomberg: Joe Biden Has a Bidenomics Problem

President Joe Biden’s “Investing in America” agenda is pumping trillions of dollars into cities through federal investments in infrastructure, clean energy and microchip manufacturing. The Democrat is hoping those landmark legislative accomplishments will persuade middle-class and union voters to vote for him come November. Bloomberg News Reporter Akayla Gardner traveled to a bellwether county in Pennsylvania to ask officials, business leaders and voters whether they trust Biden or Donald Trump to handle the economy and boost domestic manufacturing.

Inflation Reduction Act has less to do with "inflation" and more to do with clean energy/solar/wind energy and EVs made in USA with manufacturing/industries returning back to USA (What Trump pushed in 2017) BUT with tax incentives for clean/solar/wind energy and EVs while supporting climate accord/carbon footprint.

After investing billions into EV, car makers are losing revenue as interest for EV has fallen and production lines for some EV lines (Particularly EV trucks) have slowed/suspended and new EV model development canceled like GM's EV compact truck.

And there's been push back by China that supply components not manufactured by USA in terms of trade wars. World "needs" production/manufacturing capacity of China but trade wars will only increase cost and US/countries will lose in the end as USA does not control all the supply chain for "clean energy".

So where are we in 2024 from fallout of Biden policies of clean energy and reducing carbon footprint? As expressed by even liberal Bloomberg, economic sentiment is not good especially in key swing states while many corporations and rich elite experience record profits and booming stock market. How has pursuit of clean energy and reducing carbon footprint impact price of milk and bacon at the grocery store for "average" workers in the US?

Financial Times Film | How Biden's Inflation Reduction Act changed the world

The US was for decades the exemplar of free market globalization. That changed with Donald Trump’s 'America first' agenda. President Joe Biden’s landmark Inflation Reduction Act continues the push for re-industrialization by using tax credits, loans and grants in a bid to create a domestic clean energy supply chain. The FT looks at three companies using IRA incentives to invest in the US and examines whether the legislation signals the end of globalization

I am a full-fledged proponent for responsible alternate energy use.
I have been involved in the development and implementation of solar, wind, biofuels, gasohol, wood waste, wood gasification, small-scale hydro and a few other approaches.
I am solidly against the government picking winners and losers, as that always leads to poor. corrupt decisions.
The decision to push us into electric vehicles was made back when the Democrats believed that they could crush Elon, take his toys and give them to their Union friends and supporters so that they could build vehicles using parts and materials primarily sourced from their friends in China.
This plan has crumbled, but folks of this kind cannot admit to failure... .

Yes, I believe in alternate sources of energy, but not if it is imposed by government fiat.

I agree.

With each passing year, I dream more and more of self-driving cars that will "chauffeur" me and wife around in my later years with solid state battery technology that will allow fast charging and long-range (Like 600-1000 miles) or underground wire roads for wireless inductive charging while driving/parked already being installed in Europe/China and piloted in Michigan so as to not rely on heavy batteries that catch on fire from overheating - https://www.michigan.gov/mdot/travel/mobility/initiatives/wireless-charging-roadway

And why isn't there more push for solar powered car technology like Aptera with up to 1000 mile range using current battery technology and solar charging to provide up to 42 mile range each day? (Enough for my in town shopping/appointments as grocery getter) - https://aptera.us/vehicle/

We are already utilizing solar panels at home and I anticipate expanding solar array to charge Aptera battery for greater range (When it FINALLY goes to production ... Vaporware for several years now :(). I like our 2019 Chrysler Pacifica that folds all the seats into the floor to load 4'x8' sheets of plywood/drywall and 10' 2x4/2x6s into the center tunnel and would be nice to install flexible solar panels on the roof/hood to supplement charging as EV.

And as championed by Toyota already with $10,000 basic ICE truck platform for non-US markets and $23,000 small truck for US market, pricing for basic transportation really needs to be below $25,000 as not too many people can afford/or be willing to spend $50,000-$100,000 on an EV/truck or $35,000 for ICE commuter car.

Government really should allow "free market" of private sector but I guess we have too many rich donors making US government by "Special Interests" instead of "We the People". ;)

Bill Maher may have hit the nail on the head why Democrats will lose in 2024 regardless who Republicans run ... 5-6 year old children coming home from school telling their parents they are racists or they are not boys or girls will mobilize all the parents who disagree with what the schools did to their children to vote against Democrats.

And how many such parents are in key swing states? Enough to change the election outcome regardless who Democrats/Republicans field as presidential candidates? ;)

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education but was never allowed to get certified because the department head, a Chicago Leftist, didn't think that straight white males should be in public school classrooms.
That's why I'm a Library Director in Donna, Texas, where they roll unaccompanied minor illegal aliens up like breakfast burritos and keep them in cages until they pass them on to the traffickers.
I like my job.
I get to help the LEGAL aliens and citizens.
I'm also able to help the LGBTQ+ kids that get kicked out of their homes without encouraging them to do stupid stuff like chop off body parts...or vote for leftists.

I have LGBTQ daughter to whom I tell, "You are my favorite daughter" and she goes, "Dad, I am your only daughter". 😆

After seeing what many of my coworkers' daughters went through, I am glad to have a daughter who brings working-like-with-a-job "girlfriends" to meet me instead of loser boyfriends.

I maintain my library as neutral ground.

Folks of all backgrounds use our facilities to meet, get informed, use out computers and wi-fi, rest, clean up, meet with councilors, authorities and parole officers, go through the hoops that are necessary to stay legally in the US, and sometimes even check out books.
Today, I had a group of volunteers from AARP assisting folks with their taxes while three homeless families were here with their children, playing in the kid's space.

Hey, I've been there.
Dad was an ex-con, we were often homeless and I changed schools at least 33 times.
Having a neutral, safe place was nice.

The local Democrats have reduced our funding to the point where we can barely keep our doors open, but our failing local public schools are getting more money than they can even stash away.

The Dems are knee-capping themselves by perverting public schooling.
I'm sorry for the kids... .

I used to wonder ... "Hey ... LGBTQ community cannot genetically reproduce when they are adopting children ... unless they do IVF ..." then it hit me, "Wait, they are BORN that way?"

After our daughter came out of the closet I asked my wife, "Honey, do you have anyone in your family who are gay/lesbian? Because none on my side of family." And her answer was "No, must have come from your side of family who haven't come out of the closet yet because I gave birth to a straight son who kept a girlfriend for going on 14 years" 😆

Having grown up in LA, gone to college in LA and worked downtown with North Hollywood nearby, at times I was the "minority straight guy" among gay and lesbian coworkers. When I joined the Army and attached to 349th General Hospital behind LAC/USC Medical Center initially, yup my Sergeant was gay and Lieutenant was lesbian (BTW very patriotic and dependable soldiers who were exemplary). As I worked at LAC/USC MC and got to know more about LGBTQ lifestyle and community of coworkers and patients, I found they were very much like me in many ways with better taste in clothes and interior decorating (You should see the mess of house I kept as a bachelor).

But having raised two children (Son was 4 when I met my wife), I do agree that young children should be "allowed" to be children at preschool/elementary school years without adding more pressure to their childhood like gender identify and racism as to me, there's plenty of time for that later. Wife is Irish/Scottish/Cherokee and I had to give our son an "expanded" version of American history beyond what he was told in school of what really happened to Native Americans when he asked about the "End of the trail" statue at Mooney Grove park he played at in Visalia, CA - https://www.visaliatimesdelta.com/s...end-of-the-trail-statue-turns-100/3786820002/

Our son is all grown up now at 6'2" and looks like Jason Momoa with hefty build but he was pleasantly surprised to learn about true "American" history (We waited until he was a teenager to break the news that he was somewhat more "Indian" than "Cowboy" even though he looked "All American" with blond hair and blue eyes. ;) His grandmother who is 1/16th Cherokee, absolutely looked the part but when she was riding her Harley around daily decked out in full riding gear with sunglasses, you couldn't tell ... Only her hair down to waist was a giveaway).

  • New polling of Black middle-to-low income single mothers of school-aged children found that 69 percent “believe the country is headed in the wrong direction”
  • 91 percent reported difficulty grappling with inflation and the rising cost of living over the past year.
  • A vast majority of these moms also reported they are concerned about their child’s academic progress
  • More than half say elected officials are doing a poor job “when it comes to responding to the issues that are important to Black single mothers.”
  • Majority of moms polled responded they are more likely to vote for candidates who support flexibility for parents to pick where their children go to school, including through public school choice and private school

Mother's grandfather came back to America from Poland after faking his death for the fourth time, married an Apache and started a large farm and ranch on both sides of the Los Angeles River that stretched from Downey to Long Beach. His 40-year-old son married a 14-year-old girl of mixed lineage. When he died, most of his family decided that they should take her land and money. They probably shouldn't have had this discussion while eating at her table, as all of them died shortly after from stomach problems.

This landed her in court, though she beat the murder rap and went on to marry a minor Mafiosi.

This is the more normal side of my family.

The other side is a bunch of Appalachian hillbillies and hell-raisers.
Something as minor as unusual sexual preferences wouldn't stand out at all... .

Border crisis and immigration rising as top 2024 issue.

Bloomberg: How Texas Unleashed an Immigration Firestorm

The border and migration have become top issues of the 2024 US presidential election, with a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll finding immigration second only to the economy on voters’ minds. It’s in large part due to a political gamble by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
In April 2022, the Republican decided federal authorities weren’t doing enough about increased border apprehensions. So he directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to charter buses to take people who entered the US illegally to northern cities, or as he calls them, “sanctuary cities.”
His tactics in part led to frenzied talks among Congressional lawmakers in late 2023, ultimately yielding a bipartisan deal. But the bill swiftly collapsed under pressure from Donald Trump, who said he didn’t want to hand a victory to President Joe Biden. We visited Eagle Pass, Texas, to see the situation first hand and examine how the issue might play into the 2024 presidential election.

“Fox & Friends” co-hosts react to former President Trump’s remarks on the border crisis while on the 2024 campaign trail

As I said elsewhere, the buses that came to the Salinas Avenue migrant processing center here in Donna, Texas had to pass by the front door of my place of business for the last couple of years, so I had a pretty good idea of how many migrants were getting shipped north.
That's no longer true.
The buses are no longer coming here.
Most are going to Eagle Pass or places farther west to load up... .

The Young Turks - New Poll: Biden Is In DEEP Trouble In Swing States

Biden is trailing Trump in 6 of 7 key swing states, according to a Wall Street Journal poll

"Biden has a big heart but he keeps dropping 2000 pound bombs in Gaza ... Biden is the BAD GUY ... I can't stand Biden ... There's a lot of rhetoric but he keeps transferring weapons ... Biden denies reality ... fear mongering Trump ... has turned voters to Trump ... many believe Trump's term was better than Biden's term ... Most voters stated their finances are getting worse ..."

Trump wins endorsement of Police Officers Association of Michigan

NBC: Trump is leading President Biden in several key swing states, according to new polling by the Wall Street Journal. Trump is leading in six battleground states which is a major reversal from 2020 when Biden won all but one.

Mumbling, bumbling Biden versus blustering, bombastic Trump.
It's no contest... .
There's a point where Biden continuing to support "bombing/killing" of people in Gaza with military/financial support will "trump" other voter issues like Democrat v Republican ... one old white guy vs another old white guy.

For many voters, border crisis/immigration issues will "trump" other issues.

For black voters who saw red carpet rolled out for illegal immigrants with housing/food/employment/debit card support but no support for black citizens, KKK mentor Biden will "trump" all other issues.

For some voters, economy and their personal financial situation will "trump" other issues.

For voters who are parents who disagree with what schools have done to their children, greater schooling choice options will "trump" other issues.

For voters who have been victimized and are concerned about their safety with desires to be gun owners, Second Amendment right will "trump" all other issues.

For these voters, it doesn't matter whether RNC is running Trump or not as they will be voting against Biden/Harris.
