Yoda's pandemic advice

Good advice. It's a virus. Deal with it, and get on with normal life. There's about a one in two hundred chance it'll kill you. (That's if you get it.) Those kind of odds I routinely ignore going about my daily activities. Driving is more dangerous, yet we never think twice about that.

I remember part of the lyrics of the theme to an incredible stupid TV program that goes something like this:

You better pay attention
Or this world we love so much might just kill you
I could be wrong now, but I don't think so.
It's a jungle out there.

So here is my personal view on the subject... Everytime I go out to the milking shed to help one of the employees I take the risk of being butted, kicked or trampled by a 700 to 1200 beef on the hoof. Everytime I help my husband in the field or repair equipment I take too many risks to name as agriculture is a more dangerous occupation than law enforcement according to the Bureau of Labor. Every time I visit my patients (home care nurse) I take the risk of animal bite from pets to accidents from poorly maintained homes. It's an even larger risk driving to admin to discuss cases simply because of the alleged driving skills of tourists the amusement park in the next county attracts. Then there is the incredible risk of sharing a 1/4 mile driveway with a certain unnamed idiot that shall remain my brother. A self proclaimed "redneck engineer" with a fully furnished machine shop and an addiction to adrenaline.

Then! Just to round things out... From the time my Mom died when I was 8 until my adopted Dad managed to get custody of me I was a victim of Chicago's so called foster care system and lived on the worst part of Halstead Street in that city. I've looked danger in the face and spit in it's eye. Don't ask me to make an illness with a 99% survival rate my priority.

I'm tired of the whole "leads to the dark side" schtick they're on in the franchise.

Yeah, yeah, yeah..."fear..." I get it.

But this, from Yoda to Luke:

"Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is…Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose."

And this from Ahsoka to the Mandalorian, Din:

“His attachment to you makes him vulnerable to his fears, his anger.”

“I’ve seen what such feelings [feelings of attachment] can do to a fully trained Jedi knight [referring, of course, to Anakin] —to the best of us. I will not start this child down that path.”

Sheesh... EVERYTHING leads to the dark side:

Love leads to the Dark Side

The fear of loss leads to the Dark Side

Emotional attachment leads to the Dark Side

There's a lesson to be learned here with respect to COVID: Quit believing EVERYTHING leads to the "dark side" on this.

You are in luck. Since the widespread adoption of the vaccines, and a general acceptance of mitigation, the US is now one of the best off (US in pink):

45 million people, about 85% of the adult population, according to the BBC, have been vaccinated in the UK. How then do you explain their spike?

Apparently young people aren't getting vaccinated. It is all Delta variant responsible for the UK spike, which spreads very quickly in unvaccinated segments of populations.

Well, the jury is still out on whether that's the reason.
Pay attention. This Delta variant is going to be used as an excuse to justify another national emergency and lock down. This will be the left's last shot to take over this country. If you are an American patriot, do not comply. If they fail at a national lock down and when millions of people don't die, they will have failed and we will still have our country.

You are correct that there is a lot we don't yet know about the Delta variant, and the vaccine-induced resistance to it. But the rest of it doesn't make any sense. What exactly do Democrats gain from a Delta surge? What do they gain from a 'lockdown'?

I didn't say Democrats. I don't automatically tar brush all Democrats as radical left marxist socialists (self-labelled "progressive" in a cynical and narcissistic sort of way). Unfortunately it seems a significant number of Democrats, and leadership in particular, have been bewitched by, deluded by, or intimidated into following their radical wing to one degree or another.

I think the reason the UK is spiking because they may be shifting toward following the "Sweden" model for coping with the virus, as Dr. John Campbell reports:
Note that it's cases that are spiking, and not deaths, and we all know how affected case-counting can be.

Can you clarify how you think folks ('leftists'?) would benefit from imposing a lockdown? I can't see what the gain is.

I'm sorry, if you can't see that for yourself, I have no hope of being able to explain it to you, much less convince you. You have your blinders firmly in place.
