Will Covid lock down protests grow or dissipate?

It will depend entirely on how the protests are perceived by the media, and then how the narrative is manipulated.
If it's a diverse crowd, it'll be "Minorities and POC are protesting the undue burden Covid restrictions place on their communities"
In which case it'll be cheered and protected free speech with the ACLU ensuring they're legally protected.

If it's too many pale skinned folks, it'll be "White anti-government supremacists protesting mask mandates while causing super spreader events"
The southern poverty law center will deem them a hate group, the "squad" will accuse them of being a bunch of racist supporters of Israel, and they'll get no protection whatsoever.

Like Antifa and BLM protests of recent years?

So if those that IDENTIFY as OPPRESSED, then it's minority rights protest ... Right? (y)

I'd like to think the resistance will grow and finally some heads are rolling, time for diplomacy and talking bullshit has to stop.
This is serious and as uncomfortable as it is, we have to deal with it.
Start ignoring unconstitutionally edicts from the Fuehrer and put pressure on Governors to withhold tax dollars to DC.

And I am loading magazines and cleaning some tools...............

I think anyone protesting anything feels in some way oppressed. Only the ones who've been told they are oppressed, and have been for generations, get Preferred/Protected Protest Status.

Now that people are losing their jobs and employers are hurting due to dismissed staff per mandate, I see it going in only one direction ... up, up and away. This could be the match that lights the fuse ....

I agree with the above. We are headed in a bad direction. Well, bad for commies anyway.

I look at whats going on in Australia and whats going on here and it seems like just a matter of time.

But really, in the grand scheme of things I think the Covid Scamdemic is the least of our concerns if one is paying attention.

This is the reason you are driving through your neighborhood/city a few weeks before elections and take pictures of the signs they are advertising/voting for and share it with your buddies.
Makes the process of elimination much easier when the purge begins.

Signs?
The only signs that I've seen over the last few election cycles have been for local candidates - and they've mostly been on public right-of-ways,,, ,

I hope nobody here is thinking we should encourage the people in Hong Kong to protest in any meaningful way. That only works in democracies with open medias. I am sure many of you are old enough to remember Tiananmen Square.

amazingly enough for SC, we did have too many biden signs in our neighborhood and city.
They still have their stickers on the car.......................
Conservatives do not scratch them off or steal signs as the dems are doing, but we know where they are parked.

"That only works in democracies with open medias" !?!?!? How the hell do you get a democracy with an open media in the first place unless you're willing to act like the guy in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square!?!?! And that goes as well for keeping one!!! I encourage any protest that exercises right to free speech and assembly which are inherent human rights whether recognized by jurisdiction government or not, so long as no violence is planned and executed - with one crucial exception: violence may be justified to the extent required in order to repel violence when necessary for self defense.

The Tiananmen square protest was peaceful, BTW, but no matter.

You need to be very careful about when you encourage resistance to an oppressive government. It has worked very few times in history. Every slave revolt in Rome ended up with tens of thousands of dead slaves. In fact there has only been one successful slave revolt in history (Haiti).

Political revolts follow similar patterns. It worked in the old Soviet Union in 1990 because of Gorbachev, who saw the economic inevitability and gave tacit approval to the breakup of the country, and because the military was cooperative. It was not because of the people on the streets. Previous attempts in Hungary and Poland and Czechoslovakia ended up with Soviet tanks on the street and a lot of dead protesters.

The Jewish diaspora, and 2000 years of anti-Semitism, followed the destruction of the Temple Mount by the Romans, who were not in the mood to permit rebellion. Example follows example throughout history.

That is what will happen again in China. The Chinese leaders are not ready to give up power in the way the Soviets were. There is no economic pressure on the leaders, and unlike 18th century USA and France, there is no tradition of personal liberty, nor of rebellion, and the military will absolutely follow the direction of the Chinese leadership.

Encouraging and supporting the principles of self-determination is all well and good, and I believe strongly in that. But there is also Realpolitik, and ignoring that would be foolhardy for them.

You may be right about that, but listening to your sage advice there would never have been a United States of America. "Realpolitik" is subjective relativist pragmatic dogshit and deserves to be shovelled onto the compost pile of history along with other dogshit poltical theories, like Marxism, for example. Or perhaps, Blinken and Chamberlain for a more modern parallel. No doubt Chamberlain viewed appeasing Hitler as "realpolitik."

What minorities? What white people? It is in Hong Kong.

Well, it is easy for the keyboard libertarian to tell people on the other side of the world what they ought to do. We got no skin in the game. Those people have a lot to lose.

It is not just about liberty - you have to be smart enough to know when you can rebel. For most of history, rebellion simply did not work.

Chamberlain? No parallel there - he was the leader of a foreign country. A better parallel would be the Heydrich assassination. I am a big believer in killing Nazis, but one assassination cost the Czechs about 10,000 people in reprisal killings. Worth it? I think it isn't for us to even hazard a guess.

I was under the impression that the OP was referring to a spill over, in the event further lockdowns are mandated here...since he asked if we expected protests to do anything "like in Hong Kong".

While your other remarks have merit, this does not. We DO have "skin in the game" wherever and whenever a group of people yearn to breath free and the alternative is to not breath at all. "Give me liberty or give me death." I'm willing to bet most of the population of the planet knows that phrase. You bet we've got skin in the game. And if you're only referring to literal "skin" just ask any member of our military or NGO sent to some country like Afghanistan to represent American democratic principles and values. Some of whom left their literal skin there.
