Who's Been Vaccinated?

Why would someone who has been vaccinated for COVID care who else has or has not been vaccinated?

I have had vaccines for more serious viruses and do not care who else has or has not.

You only would if you have loved ones who can't take the vaccine because of immune system issues, or other reasons. It is part of the whole 'caring for your neighbor' thing.

I don't. That sounds like the people that should be first in line for the vaccine.
It is part of the whole 'caring for your neighbor' thing.
As always, your virtuous nature is without equal.
How many masks today? You know, just in case you encounter anyone with a weak immune system. Or do you not care quite that much?

Jeeze - read more carefully! I said they couldn't take the vaccine. Hence the need for society to make sure as many people are vaccinated as possible. I do get that one of the foundations of conservatism is the whole 'every-man-for-himself' thing, but I just want it to be explicit that some folks are not overly concerned about anything but their own short-term self-interest.

I am vaccinated, and disease-free (as repeatedly tested), so I can go maskless without fear of injuring anyone. How is this logic not clear?

Yea, I read it. How many people can't take it? One in one million? One in ten million?

Any other infinitesimally small groups that "society" should be required to accommodate?

About 2% of the population are allergic to peanuts. That is a lot of people. Should peanuts be banned or don't you care?

I can solve that for you. It isn't one.
You're welcome.

If you can't take the vaccine for some health reason, so be it. If you don't want to get it because, you know, 'mah freedom', then fine, but just don't go to public schools or universities. I am sure Liberty University will take your money.

A non answer as expected.

So if I don't get vaccinated for health reasons can I go to public schools and universities? Will I have to carry my medical records?

Wow - did you never go to public school? Or send a kid to school? Parents have to bring in vaccination records for:
Polio.
Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP)
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
Hepatitis B.
Varicella (Chickenpox)

Pediatricians provide you with a card that shows the date of all vaccinations, and you bring that document to school to register your kid. Or you bring specific medical exemptions. This has been the way it works in every western nation on Earth since before WW2. Like this:

BTW - there is also a yellow immunization card for international travel, and many countries make you show your vaccination record for things like Yellow Fever before you enter, particularly if you have come from a tropical country. It looks like this:

None of this is new!!!

Wow- I had not planned to go back to school, should have stated that.
What if I go to a school event? How much paperwork would I need.

You can answer any of these questions, or maybe you can't.
How about a disparaging comment instead?

Well, the answer would be school-specific.

My point was that vaccinations are long-established requirements for schools. People act like the COVID vaccine is somehow unique in that regard, but we are just doing what has worked for 100+ years. Death from communicable disease is a tiny fraction of what it was in the 19th century, and that is because of the efforts of public health officials and scientists. And now somehow this has become controversial and the scientists are the bad guys.

The idea that a crowd of people would protest vaccines, or that a woman would intentionally crash a car through a free vaccination clinic (as in Tennessee, yesterday), is a recent thing. When I was growing up, the very idea never would have occurred to anyone. We got our shots and went to school and didn't catch polio from each other. Like in a civilized society.

My honest opinion - a bunch of folks are emotionally invested in Trump, and the scientists challenged Trump's authority. So they have chosen Trump, and the only way they can square this is by rejecting science. Absurd.

BTW - a bunch of internet 'influencers' report that Russians tried to pay them to post false stories about the Pfizer vaccine killing folks:

While it's been a long, long time ago I remember our patents had to provide immunization records to get us started in school in NY.

During the early 80s I worked in Italy for 3 years (US DoD). Brought my dog along and even the dog needed a world health organization certificate. Italy wasn't bad as there was no quarantine. Many countries had quarantine periods. Additionally I needed my immunization records for many places I traveled to and from. By 1990 all my work related travel abroad ended and during a few subsequent cruises my wife and I never needed any immunization records. I know we already have cruise plans for next January and were told we will need COVID immunization records to fly and board the ship.

Really matters not to me who is or is not vaccinated.

I changed schools over 33 times.
My records rarely caught up with me.
I caught mumps at one school and spread it through another.
I spread chicken pox through three schools - something about my mixed ancestry causes me to catch it each time it goes around.
I've been re-vaccinated at many of the schools that didn't have my records - for my own good, they said.
I think that vaccination is a good thing, by and large.
As long as folks don't get carried away about it.

In case anyone has forgotten. We have the COVID vaccines because of Capitalism and Donald Trump's Operation Warp Speed.
If anyone wants to argue that a vaccine would have been developed under President Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden I'd love to hear it.

I have no doubt that a vaccine would have been developed under a Democrat president.
Just not in America.
A CCP vaccine for the CCP virus, anyone?

Wow... Put into the context that Trump was responsible for getting the vaccines developed AND the rapid rollout, why on earth are so many Trump supporters vehemently opposed to getting vaccinated?

Yes, a vaccine would have been developed under ANY American president, because it was a private enterprise. The government simply provide the funding, and that was hashed out in Congress.

What on Earth makes you suppose otherwise?

Wait - some debate footage? Some political sniping?

Be real. The Democratic Congress passed the funding bill and Trump signed it. You think somehow Biden wouldn't have done exactly the same? The vaccination numbers are currently 165 million under Biden. What exactly makes you think he opposes the vaccine? Or was unable to sign the funding bill that got the vaccine research funded and distributed?

None of what you said makes any sense.
