Who Controls the International Borders?

I seem to recall that the Obama/Biden administrations claim that international borders are the responsibility of the federal government and are under the control of the federal government.

Oddly, these same people and organizations said that the administration of President Trump had no say about the international border and its control.

Who is correct on this subject?

-And what about the states?

Right now, Governor Abbott of Texas has established a $250,000,000.00 "down payment" on completing the border wall and set up a means for individuals to help to pay for the completion of this wall. He is also returning the land that was seized by the federal government for the wall and has stated that he will open discussions with those land owners about allowing the state to use that land for building the wall.

Does Governor Abbott have the right to do this?

I have noticed that the wall sections that are stockpiled near my home are being moved around and that some appear to have been moved out of the storage areas... .

States don't normally have the Constitutional authority to control movement across their borders. That's pretty clearly a Federal power (Article I, Sections 8, 9 & 10). However ... Abbott has declared an "Emergency" so I guess it depends what emergency powers the Texas Constitution and Legislature give him and for how long they last. But more significantly, whether or not a state emergency power can supercede a Federal Constitutional power, I don't know if there's been any SCOTUS ruling that applies. I hope he gets away with it, but only as an allowed power and not as an abuse of it.

On the news (Newsmax) this morning: Gov De Santis of Florida is sending FL law enforcement personnel to Texas to assist De Santis in dealing with the border crisis. I think this act of state - state cooperation and sharing of assets in opposition to Federal government policy is a significant development.

Yep.
The stored Wall sections are coming out of the storage yards.
I'm not sure where they are going up, though, since Governor Abbott returned the land that the federal government had seized for putting up the Wall.
Maybe the nature preserves and parks land along the Rio Grande?

Well, someone just stole a million dollars worth of the Wall.
This last Sunday, someone that had access to the key code for the Pharr Wall panel storage lot as well as the keys for the fork lift brought in five heavy duty pick-up trucks, some with flat bed trailers, and stole 110 of these 8 X 32 foot panels, valued at $9, 035.00 each.
They were soon found at a local scrap yard.
As there were only six people that had access to the key codes and fork lift keys, an arrest is expected soon.
The entire theft was caught on security camera.
More stupid criminals... .

You must got sh!t for brains if you think the federal gov't is gonna take care of it. I don't know about Texas, I don't know about California. but if you look at Lukeville, or Ajo Az, there's about 40 guys out there at night watching the border. There are a ton of lib teachers and students bringing food and water out to these poor underprivileged people. You ever had 10 college kids looking at you like a jerk for emptying their water bottles?
If ...and I say IF we're gonna stop them, it's gonna be old men on Polaris 4x4's saying...not now, not here

Wishful thinking.
We had two women killed over the weekend, a mother and her adult daughter.
It seems that an 18-year-old had an SUV-load of illegals and was trying to run them through Mission, Texas.
The cops noticed and started pursuit.
The driver panicked, ran a stop sign and t-boned a sedan, killing the occupants.
All of the illegals and the driver were caught, and it looks like the driver is going to be charged and tried.
The illegals? Who knows... .

Yeah, driver charged. What are they going to do? No assets, no job. Throw him in an American jail for 20 years...three squares, a bed, heat at night. He just won the lottery.

Now the Feds want to patch a few holes in the wall. scrap all of the panels that are in their control and use the remaining funds for drainage and flood control... .

I guess that they are going to be building more wall sections, even though they have several thousand sitting in the storage lots.
There was a whole train load of square steel tube stock waiting to go into the fabrication yard last night... .

Are the walls that Texas is putting up as good as the walls that Trump was putting up before Biden stopped them?

I just looked over the positions of the Republicans here in Texas that are running for offices in the midterm elections.

Almost all of them said that they were for finishing the Border Wall... .

I like his idea. The problem begins when he crosses the Texas border and has to transport them through all the states in between. Better he charters some airplanes and flies them there.
