It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I must tell you all that our brother Art Eatman, known here as desertrat, passed away on 4/13.
Art was 85 and an admin at THR. A great wit and dry sense of humor was his trade mark.
More as I find out.

Thanks, Doc.

I received this earlier via e-mail.

Derek,
There will be no service...this is the way that Art wanted it......he is going to be cremated and then I am going to take his ashes and spread them down in Terlingua Texas....

Art always told me to get in touch with you if anything was to ever happen to him.....We spent many a afternoon on the High road together "Moderating".....he was a joy to be around....always had a funny story to tell...and most were true....

I took art some supper sunday evening around 830pm.....we talked for a while like we always have done....my wife and I said goodnight, and I told him that I would see him first thing in the morning.....as we were walking out the door....my wife stopped and turned around and said..Good bye Art....we both were looking at him...he smiled and winked....That was the last time that we saw him......I found him at 9am the next morning......the coroner said that he probally died soon after we left....

I have lost my closest and dearest friend......my life will definitely be different from this day forward...

Regards,
Frank Murphy

I will be glad to answer any questions that anyone may have......

Art was shrewd trader and made a lot of money in coins and guns.
A Korean war vet, he returned to become a graduate of Florida State in mechanical Engineering. A decade with GM, Convinced him he would be happier on his own He owned a construction company, did consulting , coin and gun shows, shade tree mechanics, and a bunch of other stuff.

As I posted over on THR, Art recently did Cyndi and I a huge kindness, we called him to say thanks and Cyndi said when we visited this summer she owed him a big hug. His response was, " I got to wait for summer"

RIP Brother.

Art was a treasure. Lynn and I have the great fortune and pleasure to meet up with Art and have lunch as we traveled to Florida for the winter. Derek, please pass along our deepest condolences to Frank and his wife on behalf of Lynn and I. We are all going to miss him......

This is Nancy, Mick's (Biker) wife.. I didn't think this would hit me so damn hard. Art was such kind and thoughtful man, he even e-mailed me welcoming me to THR when Mick and I married. We lost another one of the really good ones, and all of our live are worse off for it. Rest easy friend, you deserve it.
