I guess I don't understand this thread. What is the thesis - that Biden is responsible for something to do with COVID? That the press was unfair to Trump? That the Chinese intentionally designed COVID-19 to deny Trump a second term?

Or is this just a general grumbly ramble?

Name calling is childish in my opinion. One reason I dislike Trump so much.

Yes, it is childish and immature for politicians to use name calling. Yet, Trump is not the first one nor will he be the last one to name call. IIRC from my history classes, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson called each other names too.

My question to you is what other reasons do you have for not liking Trump?

I think Trump is a glorified con man who really pulled a fast one on the American people. He doesn't really care, and anyone who thinks he does hasn't been paying attention for the last 40 years.

Trump thinks he can say and do whatever he wants, and when consequences come up, he whines and cries like an eight year old girl. Nothing is ever his fault, and, if he loses, someone did it to him.

Basically, I don't like him because he is a con artist that acts like a spoiled child. I feel sorry for the people he duped.

How then would you rate his accomplishments in office as President? IE, low unemployment, economic boom, getting NATO countries to contribute more to their own defense, initiating talks with North Korea's leader, modifying NAFTA, slowing down illegal immigration from Central America, and his attempts to rein in China's trade practices?

I grant you Trump is no orator or a polished speaker. It is his policies and the resultant actions on the American people I feel is more important in the end.

Absolutely! I don't care if he's crass, I actually kind of appreciated it. You may not have liked what he said, or how he said it, but by God you knew where he stood on an issue. In the end, words don't mean shit, it is actions, and I dare say, what he did in the best interest of the US benefitted more Americans than the actions of any other President in many a year. I never understood anybody that allowed words to offend them.

Ok. I'm not too sure he was the reason for the economy going strong. President always gets the credit or blame for the state of the economy, but there are many other things involved.
I kind of like that he got NATO to foot more of the bill for European defense, but it looks like that might bite us in the ass eventually. Seems that our NATO allies have now decided that they don't want to help us if we have a conflict with China. I put some of the blame for that on Trump for being such a hard ass.
The thing with N. Korea is a joke. He didn't accomplish anything with them. We are in the same situation with them that we have been in for years.
I like changing NAFTA. I like some of his ideas on immigration.
The thing with China doesn't mean anything. No matter what he did, or any of his successors do, it is only a matter of time before China becomes the number one power globally. All Trump did with his little trade war was get prices raised.
Hope this answers your question.

I sometimes feel like folks exist in a data-free zone around here. This is the actual GDP over the last half-century. Trump's economic growth doesn't look too different from everyone else's, barring the 2008 crash under Bush 2. Yes, he didn't sink the economy, so, OK, good on that, but nothing really special happened either. The COVID crisis certainly took a hunk out of our economy at the end, and Trump could have handled that a bit better, but he really can't see past the end of his own nose on that one.

Per-capita GDP:

Thank you for clarifying your points of view. it is good to see there are issues we are in agreement as well as issues where we have a difference of opinion. I agree the modifications to the NAFTA agreement was sorely needed and past due. And yes, Immigration is a topic which the country needs to have a very serious discussion as well as resolution too.

Presidents usually gets the credit or the blame for the domestic economy during their term. I would appreciate if you please explain why you think there are extenuating circumstances where Trump should not get credit for the economic boom during his term?

I applaud Trump for at least trying to initiate talks with N. Korea. IMO, not talking or engaging potential enemies such as N. Korea is worse. One item that should be mentioned is his son-in-law's (Jared Kushner) progress in arranging middle east peace treaties.

Again, thank you for taking the time to explain your positions.

Typical of trump to take credit for Obama's accomplishments:

1. economic growth - Trump's? Not really - see the graph above

2, illegal immigration (already falling dramatically under Obama):

3. The NATO commitments to spend 2% of their GDP were made in 2014 (under Obama at the Wales Summit). Trump didn't get any new commitments (and he damaged relations with NATO).

4. Trump's China policies cost the US billions. Much of that went to farm aid to cover losses from his his 'trade war':

5, And you can have whatever progress you think was made with North Korea (which is none).

Obama's accomplishments? The slowest goddam recovery since the Depression? And Trump turned things around without getting us involved in any new wars. I want a bag of what you've been smoking, friend. It must be some pretty good stuff.
here is one of obozo's """accomplishment""", although the kenyan turd still claims he did not start it:

obozo's war on cops and law enforcement

plus some more:
