This is some holier than thou crap. He believes your kids should be taken away and re-educated if you are a Trump supporter. This guy should be fired but he’ll probably be promoted.

The words “re-education camps” has been thrown around a lot lately. Taking someone’s kids because they have the “wrong” political beliefs is disgusting.

Indoctrination has proven to be very effective in many societies. Who needs logic, reason, and evidential proof? Apparently those are things a great deal of people around the world - and right here in the US - can do without.

Yeah, ZeroHedge is totally legit! I heard that it is starting already - this one random guy said to do it, so the US Government just started taking kids away. The busses are lining up here in Nevada. I hear they are taking them to be forcible converted to homosexuality and are only allowed to listen to Rick Astley while they assemble Birkenstocks.

Yea this PBS lawyer is about the 4th nimrod to call for stuff like this. I didn’t say it’s happening, just that it’s disgusting that he called for it.

I am pretty sure I can match you right-wing idiot for left-wing idiot all day long. This kind of cherry-picking doesn't really advance our knowledge, but it allows folks to justify their emotional responses.

I agree but it’s telling for what’s coming. These idiots don’t get much push back and now that one party is in complete control, all kinds of extreme things are getting attention and celebrated. The idiots on the left can go more extreme than ever and have their jobs the next day. For the right, their normal or patriotic comments get twisted to extremes.

Why do you suppose the Left wants universal free college so badly.........

Because no modern society has maintained an advantageous technological position without investing heavily in education? Because a college education almost doubles an individual's lifetime average income?

Oh wait - it must be because they are all communists hoping to brainwash the masses.

Is investing in education and providing it free of charge the same? A high school education in a public school system is free. Why would anyone believe the same government that's in charge of our public k-12 schools would be able to manage higher education any better?

Forget the economics and politics of it. While there are things our government gets right occasionally, more often it seems as soon as they get their hands on something, quality suffers.

That is an ill-informed insult the the public universities of the US. We have long had the BEST system of public higher education in the world. It just costs too much (nowadays) for the individual because of the dramatic decrease in public funding, leaving the poor to take the hit.

You said "public higher education"
I'm talking about the public school systems. The ones paying administrators (locally anyway) $150k/year and teachers $50k/yr. The ones always threatening program cuts if the new levy doesn't pass, but the superintendent who's drawing pension after retiring as a principal on top of his 6 figure salary never offers to take a pay cut.

Foreign students flock here regularly to attend U.S. colleges and universities. Ain't nobody trying to rush here to take advantage of opportunities at F.W.Woolworth middle school in BFE, Ohio though.

Sure, public schools can be pretty poor. But again, it requires people to make investments. My kids attend a public school with more than 3000 students - that is larger than many colleges. But in this state, any attempt to build more schools is resisted. You want good public schools? You need high teacher-student ratios, and you need teachers who are well-compensated.

Again, take a look at countries with good secondary schools. They pay teachers well, and hire many of them. There is no reason why a good high-school teacher shouldn't make $50K. It is a tough job that can make a significant contribution to the betterment of our communities. I would hire many more teachers, pay them well, but hold them to high standards. You do that, you would have good schools.

Right. I'm in agreement on that part. I was pointing out the disparity in salaries. My complaint, based on what I see in the public school model is the top-heaviness, which seems to be a common theme in all things run by the government including the government itself. No reason to suspect a public-higher-education system would be any different.

Only a small percentage of the populace requires a college education to perform the tasks necessary for the nation's advantageous technological position, and an abundance of merit-based funding programs already exist to see that they can get it. Indeed, many of those scholarships are ONLY made available to members of specific racial, ethnic, or religous groups which are seen as disadvantaged- a key component of the Leftist narrative pushed on those groups that they are still somehow victims of the racist society under whose thumb they struggle.

Im sorry, but 90% of working folk dont need a Associates degree in Gender Studies to get a good job, raise a family, and contribute to society.

Wait a few years - technology will be more and more important, and the society with a better-educated population simply does better. Ever since the Enlightenment, education has been key for a society, and today it is exponentially more important.

I am sorry that education is threatening to you, but it is a key predictor of success both within and between populations. I dismiss your pointless and ill-informed comment about gender studies.

I guess some of us are confused about gender studies. Whats left to study? Theres male or female, or the very rare occasion someone is born with both. Am I missing something? Not trying to be polemic, just wondering why we’re spending taxpayer dollars on things like this in other countries. If you want to study why red is red and why green is not red but also green, then do so on your own dime.

I suppose you could take Gender Studies and find out. ;) It doesn't sound terribly useful, but having not taken it myself, I don't know what I'm missing either.
