According to one of the Chinese scientists involved, they had isolated a bat virus and were "improving" it when it was accidentally released in that disgusting Wuhan "wet market".
Coincidentally, there have been a number of Chinese students that have been caught trying to smuggle vials of various disease cultures through Customs as they were returning to U.S. colleges.
Trial runs?

By the way, China is re-opening their wet markets, which are suspected to be the sources of many previous disease epidemics... .

I still think that the pandemic was supposed to originate in one of our Ivy League colleges and spreed from there - thus making us as hated as China is apparently becoming.
It probably wouldn't have been the Wuhan strain, as that hasn't been "improved" enough and they haven't developed any vaccines yet.
No, it would probably be something that would let them sweep in with a cure, making them the heroes of the world - after the disease effectively crippled their opponents... .

Well, Twitter is about to get a shake-up.
Elon Musk bought over 9% of their stock and was promptly added to their Board of Directors.
This should be fun... .

Jack left some time ago.
He was replaced by some other jerk who basically stated that freedom of speech is over-rated and it is Twitter's function to guide and filter what people are allowed to say and think... .

In a sane and just world, there'd be a wall, a smoke, a blindfold, and a row of guys waiting for him.
Or at the very least, a tree and some rope.

Naw.
Just give him drugs and a guru and he'll soon be out of our hair.

Meanwhile, Pintrest has decided to get all censorious.

Breaking news (Sky News Australia): Musk declined the appointment as director and will not be joining the Twitter board. My guess is that means he'll be buying more of the company. Because accepting the directorship was contingent upon his agreement to limit his share holdings to (if memory serves) something in the neighborhood of 14 percent.

Now we know:
Fox News reports this morning that Musk has filed with the SEC an offer to take Twitter private by buying all outstanding shares of the company for $54.20 a share, an 18 percent premium over yesterday's close of $45.85. Morningstar's fair value estimate for TWTR is $58.

Interesting note about market reaction to Musk's filing: TWTR closed down on the first day of trading following the news.

Twitter is considering some kind of poison pill to keep Elon from taking over.
Poison pills are more likely to kill the host than they are to damage the attacker... .

Probably why the stock was down. What are Twitter's assets anyway? Seems to me they're most intangible. Easier to just destroy the company rather than allow someone with a different vision to take over.
