“Alleged friends”? Nah. Coexisting on the same forum, or even a shared interest, does not make a person my friend. As for THR moderation, it has its place, but it also has problems. I actually rather like some of the mods there, but others, well, they have exactly the same problem we see in many police responses to recent protests...the second they are questioned, they think they need to assert dominance in order to assert their authoritay. It’s sad, but the joke is on them: if you can’t make your point without resorting to asymmetrical force, you are just demonstrating your weakness.

Please show a single example of racism posted anywhere on this forum.
Honestly, traffic is so low on this forum that it hasn’t been as common as my first impression led me to believe. But, for the record, this is the specific post that caused that comment:

“...I limit my mask wearing to the store with the highest black populagtion - Walmart, Sam's Club and local grocer Harvey's. ...”

Wow, missed that post . I agree, racist BS. I'm not quick to point that finger and give folks the benefit of the doubt but there's no excuse for that.

In the beginning, we were lead to believe that black Americans were the more vulnerable,a quote taken out of context from some time in the past about a rapidly changing issue is hardly systemic racism.

I too wear a mask around elderly humans and whenever I enter a school for work.

Should I not?

Much can be inferred from the statement, very little was implied.

“I shall know him by that which offends him...”

Did you read the sentence that followed the one I quoted? It was not, “I am trying to protect a vulnerable population.” Your spin doesn’t hold up to even brief scrutiny.

Sometimes, what doesn’t offend is far more telling.

That you dismiss my reply out of hand without even brief scrutiny is disreputable.

Please dissect your quote so I am not missing it.

In Michigan we were told that the black population is more at risk. Why would I not wear a mask around a population MORE at risk? Should I scoff the notion and cough on every black customer?
Is there more to the quote you didn’t show?
Can you not tell me why it is racist? Pretend I’m stupid, shouldn’t be hard for you.
What did I miss?

Without human verbal inflection that quote sounds like they’re trying to get everyone ELSE sick.

Sometimes, what doesn’t offend is far more telling.
You sound just like the white lawyers that come to the Res. and instruct us on how we need to be offended that our kids that go to our school have to be on a team called the Chippewa Warriors.
My children ARE Chippewa!

It is of little merit to “counter racism” by running around calling everyone a racist. Though veiled it was.
My sister is a union theater teacher. I’ve already had every single thing you’ve read online flogged on me already, by a college graduate. As she treated my wife like a second class citizen.
You are absolutely nothing new to me.
I will come across you again at the next Powwow to watch my children dance as I am patronized by some woke young brave thinking I am there to gawk. Telling me I am howli and shouldn’t be there.
Right about then a woman would come by to physically remind him of his manners on the back of his head.
Where is your wiidigemaagan?

Be careful not to fall off such a high horse...

Pretty deep conversation for just saying hello, huh, Troy?😅

The problem here is that I provided enough information for you to research the context of the quote. You, rather than saying, “yeah that’s maybe not great, I’ll go look at the post and decide whether Ed is being oversensitive for myself”, instead made up a scenario specifically to try and create some positive reason, and are now arguing as though your made up scenario has any validity.

I provided a link so you’d be able to see the entire post, so, in order of your questions: yes there is more that you chose not to read. I can can tell you why it’s racist, but honestly this shouldn’t be hard for you. You missed everything you chose not to look at.

No it really doesn’t. It sounds like they are only wearing masks at places they think are frequented by a certain race, because they think, “These folks do NOT sanitize anything, do not wear mask properly and have the highest number of cases in my county (black majority)”. That indicates a concern about receiving infection, not about giving. And it is specifically linked to prejudices about hygiene and behavior.

I know you don’t want me to be right, but there should be a limit to how much twisting you are willing to do to defend someone else’s words. Words that probably don’t represent your views at all. Why is it so important to you that I be wrong about this? Why not recognize the post I quoted for what it is, and think about how to address it going forward?

As for the rest of your post. Just about everything you’ve said is speculation piled on top of speculation, in support of something you want to be true for whatever reason. Even when the actual information was a click away, you made up stuff rather than look for yourself. As a result, all you have are straw men. Your assumptions, and the mental gymnastics you are doing to support those assumptions, don’t hold up to scrutiny.

You provided a quote, where is the link?

I defend no one. I told you how I saw it from the limited words you put in your post.

Since I’m new here I just figured out the quote IS the link. Thanks for that, by the way. If you haven’t noticed it’s kinda hard to find things in here.

And no, those word don’t represent my views at all, if you’ve read the rest of my post, marrying a Native American and having children with her and being on the receiving end of prejudice from her family, and she mine.

I feel like all this could he’s been avoided with a more extensive quote, or some help finding the content. I know, not your problem. You probably didn’t want George in here mucking it up.
Defending himself.

Never the less, it will be avoided. Clearly this isn’t the site for me.

If one really wanted to combat racism, they should take it straight to the offender, @George P .

Though it probably was easier to brow beat one open minded and curious, than one “set in their ways“, probably not as effective in actually combating it either.

Oh well. Please enjoy your Social Justicing.

Looks like this:

If you click that it takes you right to the original post.

I gave a direct link to the exact post that contained with everything he said, where he said it, giving as much context and detail as exists including referencing him by name. I could not have provided more information or been more direct. There was zero information withheld, and no attempt to keep the poster from figuring out I was mentioning his post.

And, as a reminder: I only did it when asked specifically. I wasn’t out crusading against the post or about the user. I was asked a question, I provided a full and complete answer without any misrepresentation or withholding of information.

Though it probably was easier to brow beat one open minded and curious, than one “set in their ways“, probably not as effective in actually combating it either.
You are playing the victim card. Someone asked me a question. I answered it. The person who asked was satisfied and the conversation moved on. Then you, based on your assumptions, tried to step in and say my answer was wrong. If you were really open minded and curious you would have asked questions rather than assuming you knew the score and writing entire paragraphs about how you know my kind.

Oh well. Please enjoy your Social Justicing.
I’m not here for justice.

He came to fight racism. He said so.

It sure wasn’t to see another point of view, let alone listen to it, without “correcting it”, as it wasn’t his. It’s not to sway opinion, though he may be good at debate.

It’s to FIGHT racism, and accuse, and then prey on the emotions of those accused. And those who apparently “defend” them. And attack the way they make their argument, than to listen to what they’re sa
Yup. Just like my sister, he may be right about the way I made my argument. Who cares? I know me. I can’t “win” with her either.

He isn’t here for justice, that wouldn’t be enough. He is here to fight. And found one in me rather than take it up with you.
I warn you, you’re already wrong and deserve no free speech, regardless your words.
Which I may or may not agree with. That is not the issue between he and I, he assumed I had every bit of info he did. Like I said earlier in this “Hi, I’m new here...” thread, I’m new here.

Do I give everyone the benefit of doubt before I have all the facts? Yes. I do. Not all do I suppose.

I thought I blocked these emails, evidently I’m more human than the animal I’m made to be, sucked right in, curiosity, sigh. I wish I were perfect like Ed. He reads my mind, he even knows my heart.

I guess since this isn’t THR I could just tell him to duck himself. But I won’t, because I’ll never know if he’s seen it. I obviously have nothing to learn from him. No need to talk further.

Besides being insulting, why are you here then?
I haven’t been insulting. And I’m here because unchallenged racism on a gun-adjacent forum helps support the case that gun owners are racist, which is ammunition for the anti-gun crowd.

Yeah if your opinion is racist I don’t want to listen to it. Not all opinions are worth listening to. Honestly, this shouldn’t be controversial.

You can talk about opinions of Trump all you want. I’ll state my own, and we can have a merry argument. I’m not going to start sharing your opinions any more than you will start sharing mine, but I’ll listen. However, once you start openly stating racial stereotypes, you aren’t worth listening to.

The irony of being on NoTechTyranny and finding a tyrant in the first thread I post in is not lost on me.

Any one else find that hilarious?

I was hoping that , because it is a “sister site” it would be like THR, but about the news and fishing.
You could always start a thread about the news or fishing.

I can't offer much input on fishing, but I'd happily discuss the news with you.

Oh you poor thing. Someone doesn’t like open racism, and you chose to step in and defend it, so now you are the victim of tyranny. How traumatic for you.

I’d rather be talking a about other stuff too. But I don’t have a snazzy lawnmower, I never found my fishing license after moving a few years ago, and the news? Well, there isn’t much of that that’s especially interesting right now, unless you like watching the USA acting out every stereotype we mocked the Soviet Union for, and told each other, “that would never happen in the USA,” back when I was a kid.
