Lying Flat

I've been watching the development of the Lying Flat (Tang Ping) movement as it has swept out of China and spread around the rest of the world.

It's a resistance movement of sorts.

When the authorities demand that you must work harder, faster and longer so that you can support the authorities properly, some choose to just drop out of that lifestyle and then just do the minimum required to just get by.

When the government starts "suggesting" that young people should marry and reproduce to replace the elderly that are being cleared away by COVID, many refuse.

When told by their bosses to quit working from home and get back in the office so that they can get bossed properly, many just quit.

Interestingly, some 4-1/2 million American workers dropped out of the workforce in the last few months... .

Sounds an awful lot like Communism...."from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" (Karl Marx)

Actually, lying flat is the opposite of communism.
It is minimalistic self-sufficiency, refusing to be a mass-consumer who supports big business or a struggling wage-earner who winds up coughing up much of his/her earnings to the government.
The goal is to provide for yourself and those that depend on you - and nothing more.
I couldn't think or live like that, but I've been hearing a lot of "You will have nothing - and you will like it" malarkey from the left, obviously inspired by conditions and policies in China.
In that case, lying flat would make sense... .

-Looks like America is up to 4-1/2 million working-age folks that are now Lying Flat.
Some are moving in together, others are trying out Van Life, yet others are just camping out for extended periods (like my family often did).
Let Corporate America and their narcissistic philosophy go... .
