Your employer has to pay the new people at least $15/hr to keep them there, even if they are an idiot. I can't imagine that work ethic and experience is only worth $20/hr.

My dad has been retired for 3 years now. He worked in a woodworking shop with around 25 employees for a little over 30 years, yet never in his life made $20/hr except for overtime.

I work in a small, independent auto repair shop where I've been for 14 years (24 years total experience) I'm paid exactly $25/hr for the work that I perform, not for being there. I've got around $130k invested in tools. If someone hired in with $2500 worth of tools, 2 years at a tire shop, dumb as a door stop and zero work ethic, then was paid only 20-25% less than me, I wouldn't feel like the effort I've put forth was worthwhile.

In fact, I would feel it entirely unnecessary to teach my child about working hard and paying his dues. Then, I'd ask my boss for a 40% pay increase to match everyone else. When he explains that he can't possibly afford that after he starts paying the dummy $15 an hour, I could just quit and try to get on the draw.

Perhaps my standards are a bit stricter, based on the experience of growing up surrounded by ungrateful muzzies who thought Germany was a cash cow without any responsibilities and respect for the local laws.

The bottom line is that the more liberal, voting portion of the population is about to die off - their reproductive rate is under 1.8 live births per female, when bare replacement rate is 2.2 live births in a country with first-world medical care.

The leaders of the left (most of whom are far too old to reproduce) have been casting about desperately for a reliable and long-term increase to their voter base. That's why they are trying to create a dependent pool of immigrants that would be grateful to the left for being rewarded legally and financially for staying within the U.S.

The moderates and middle class are also below replacement level, but they aren't fading as fast. Partially, that is because they are absorbing a fair percentage of the more successful immigrants and minorities.

The right is closer to replacement level, partly because they tend to be more rural and consider children to be more useful and less of a financial and social penalty.

I suspect that one of the results of the shut down of the cities will be an increase in the number of people that embrace a rural lifestyle, which leads to a reduction of dependency upon governments and an increase of self sufficiency.

I believe that this is why the left is having to work so fast... .

Maybe in your world. If a politician commits an act that is unconstitutional, by definition they are at the very least a criminal. By swearing an oath to uphold the Constitution, it could be debated that they are an enemy.

One of the single best things we can do to discourage over staying of visas and illegal border crossings is to discourage employers from hiring them. As far as I know, Trump was unwilling to make any progress in this area.
