-By the way, the Wuhan Institute of Virology is still working to "improve" bat-borne viruses - but, of course, they weren't the origin of COVID 19... .

I hear there used to be a time when you could trust the news to be reasonably fair/neutral, that time is gone I am afraid.
In the history of journalism and newspapers, there was a time, yes, but that time was actually an aberration in the longer term. Print journalism has a much longer history than broadcast journalim and its history has been mostly that of publishing opinion rather than fact, and often outright lies rather than one-sided truth. So you might say ... we're just back to status quo wrt news media.

There is a outright lie, there is telling the truth and not telling the whole truth, stretching the truth etc.

Lots of ways to "lie" without lying, the professionals are really good at it.

They said it on the news so it must be true right?
There was a reason they called it the boob tube when I was a kid, more true now than ever.

Were you trying to prove a point by only quoting part of what I said there?

when people call the long established free media liars and instead adopt alternatives with no proven track record of being correct or providing the truth

There are plenty of people who are calling the MSM liars. Not just calling them deceptive, or misleading, or guilty of omitting details, or being biased, or having an agenda. There are plenty of people just calling the MSM liars. As in "They're all a bunch of liars, so I get my news from a trusted source." Or something similar. But "trusted" by whom? And based on what?

So whilst your points are all fair ones, they don't have anything to do with MY point. A person would have to be a true fool to believe there was no agenda behind what any media outlet produces. It's up to each of to objectively assess what is presented to us. But as the Nation becomes more polarized it's increasing popular to just pick a source that is agreeable with the individual's beliefs and then swallow everything offered up without question. Which is pretty much where that individual loses control of their own political opinions and begins getting brainwashed.

Now, WH, you know very well many of your posts are pretty long-winded, often covering many points. Responding to just one of your points requires editing the quote to show just the point and its response. Repeating the entire post wastes too much paper. :giggle:
