Here they go again - https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/fast-food-workers-losing-jobs-225107245.html

When CA raised minimum wage to $15/hour, full-time jobs disappeared and workers ended up having to work two part-time jobs (Businesses compensated by not paying medical insurance premium for full-time workers) and menu prices went up (McDonalds/Burger King pricing increased like 25-30% and meal combos increase to around $9+/meal).

With $20/hour minimum wage to start in April, workers are losing their jobs as businesses cut back on workers and combine/automate operations and yes, prices have already gone up with McDonalds/Burger King combo meals well over $10-$12/meal and likely go up more.

Local McDonalds doesn't even have counter person anymore and you have to use Kiosk or cellphone app to order. Pizza Hut stopped delivery as they fired all the drivers and now you have to use Door Dash at higher cost which guarantees your pizza will be cold and tasteless.

All Hail King Newsom ...

This all makes sense when you realize that the main goal of this administration is to stage a carefully timed, photogenic series of "fiery but mostly peaceful" uprisings in the larger cities of this country - while pretending to be helping the younger and poorer people that are supposed to be starring in this extravaganza... .

BTW, a careful person with no major existing debts and living in small-town Red America can get along pretty well on $20.00 an hour or less.
-But no way can you even live out of your car on basic wage in California.
I know - I've tried... .

Frustrations over McDonald's self-serve kiosks

Companies continue to be creative as they keep up with rising costs. for one Tierrasanta man, it was too much to take after a trip to McDonald’s. "Are you kidding me? You can't use cash in a McDonald's?," Daniel Miley said, laughing.

This is how much single people in California need to earn to "live comfortably" ... $111,000

But that's not so bad as you would need $137,000 in New York. 😆

And here we go ...

With fewer options, South L.A. braces for bigger bills at fast-food restaurants - https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/fewer-options-south-l-braces-100032356.html

McDonald's. Yoshinoya. El Pollo Loco. Little Caesars. Panda Express. Taco Bell. And not a supermarket in sight.
About 40% of South L.A. residents ... reside in an area where there is limited access to affordable, healthy food because there is no supermarket nearby ... And it is likely to get more expensive as chains are planning to raise prices to partially offset increased labor costs as a result of the new wage law.
Sitting in her car ... angry about the looming price hikes, which are anticipated to largely be in the range of 4% to 5% ... Envisioning a $12 fast-food meal that could soon cost $13 or more, she lamented: "There's no win in it for the consumer."
The Times reached out to eight fast-food chains ... "Raising menu prices slightly will allow us to support our franchisees, many of whom are former employees themselves who began their careers as restaurant workers, in delivering a better customer experience," San Diego-based Jack in the Box said in a statement.

California hikes minimum wage, employers lay people off - https://www.yahoo.com/news/liberals-la-la-land-high-092216306.html

In what should have been an April Fools’ joke, a law requiring fast-food workers at large chains to earn $20 a hour took effect April 1 ... Obviously, businesses aren’t happy because it's bad for their bottom lines.
... even before the new minimum wage ..., restaurants started planning layoffs ... Pizza Hut ... will cut more than 1,000 delivery jobs. Many more are following suit ... businesses are having to downsize their workforce, reduce hours and raise prices. That’s what happens when the government meddles in the private market.
Layover at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport: < No more Uber/Lyft >

McDonald’s ... hall of self-serve kiosks < Nope, your cash is no good at kiosks (n) >
Expect to see a lot more machines and far fewer human workers in states and cities that are artificially driving up the cost of employees through higher minimum wages ... “The government seems stuck on this way of fixing something that doesn't need to be fixed ... it ends up hurting people.”
Minneapolis has mandated a $15.57 hourly minimum wage – more than twice the federal minimum wage of $7.25 – for ... all businesses starting this summer.
High wages are having other effects, too ... Uber ... Lyft. Both companies are leaving town in May after the ultra-liberal city council (several of the 13 are declared socialists) applied the minimum wage to drivers, overriding the mayor’s veto. The companies said the mandate makes operations in the city unsustainable.

"This man is destroying California": Newsom RIPPED for minimum wage increase

Los Angeles restaurant owner Angela Marsden joins 'America's Newsroom' to explain the direct impact of California's fast food minimum wage increase on small businesses, including layoffs and store closures.
"I don't know the end game here ..."
< My wife says looks like large corporate franchise restaurants are squeezing out the smaller "mom and pop" operations :((n) >
