When CA raised minimum wage to $15/hour, full-time jobs disappeared and workers ended up having to work two part-time jobs (Businesses compensated by not paying medical insurance premium for full-time workers) and menu prices went up (McDonalds/Burger King pricing increased like 25-30% and meal combos increase to around $9+/meal).

With $20/hour minimum wage to start in April, workers are losing their jobs as businesses cut back on workers and combine/automate operations and yes, prices have already gone up with McDonalds/Burger King combo meals well over $10-$12/meal and likely go up more.

Local McDonalds doesn't even have counter person anymore and you have to use Kiosk or cellphone app to order. Pizza Hut stopped delivery as they fired all the drivers and now you have to use Door Dash at higher cost which guarantees your pizza will be cold and tasteless.

This all makes sense when you realize that the main goal of this administration is to stage a carefully timed, photogenic series of "fiery but mostly peaceful" uprisings in the larger cities of this country - while pretending to be helping the younger and poorer people that are supposed to be starring in this extravaganza... .

BTW, a careful person with no major existing debts and living in small-town Red America can get along pretty well on $20.00 an hour or less.
-But no way can you even live out of your car on basic wage in California.

But that's not so bad as you would need $137,000 in New York.

In what should have been an April Fools’ joke, a law requiring fast-food workers at large chains to earn $20 a hour took effect April 1 ... Obviously, businesses aren’t happy because it's bad for their bottom lines.​

... even before the new minimum wage ..., restaurants started planning layoffs ... Pizza Hut ... will cut more than 1,000 delivery jobs. Many more are following suit ... businesses are having to downsize their workforce, reduce hours and raise prices. That’s what happens when the government meddles in the private market.​

Expect to see a lot more machines and far fewer human workers in states and cities that are artificially driving up the cost of employees through higher minimum wages ... “The government seems stuck on this way of fixing something that doesn't need to be fixed ... it ends up hurting people.”​

Minneapolis has mandated a $15.57 hourly minimum wage – more than twice the federal minimum wage of $7.25 – for ... all businesses starting this summer.​

High wages are having other effects, too ... Uber ... Lyft. Both companies are leaving town in May after the ultra-liberal city council (several of the 13 are declared socialists) applied the minimum wage to drivers, overriding the mayor’s veto. The companies said the mandate makes operations in the city unsustainable.​
