Biden surprises me by making sense

Biden surprised me by actually saying something that made sense to a conservative like me when he said at a recent press conference that persons receiving benefits that turn down an offer of a suitable job should have their benefits terminated:

Of course, this is "normal" for unemployment benefits, but what's been "normal" for some time? And "suitable" leaves a lot of room for interpretation. But ... it makes me wonder if the Democrats are getting worried about losing the middle swing voters because of all the crazy radical left policies they've been pushing and maybe Biden has been instructed to lean more toward the political center?

What isn't talked about often enough is that we're incurring trillions of dollars of additional debt so people who can work won't, as private industry can't compete with the freebies from the government. That debt will be paid by our kids, grandkids and most likely great grandkids. I'm all for helping people who need it as they can't find jobs, but saddling future generations with debt because people don't want to go to work is immoral.

You are too optimistic IMO.
“If you’re receiving unemployment benefits and you’re offered a suitable job, you can’t refuse that job and just keep getting unemployment benefits,” Biden said.
The phrase "a suitable job" was inserted for a reason.

It doesn't matter what he said. He's pandering, like all politicians do.

He won't do anything, his political party won't push any legislation on the matter, and even if they do it'll be so useless nothing will come of it.

There's value in the political pandering on this subject, therefore nothing will happen to fix it because then there'll no more power to be had with this subject.

Much like, oh, say, illegal immigration. It could be fixed, but if it gets fixed then there'll be no more power to be had on that subject either. So it'll never get fixed.

Very perceptive, and I find it applies to politicians of all stripes. My example from the other side might be the Republicans' pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare, which one of their party's leaders, John McCain, shot down. Thus it continued to be an unsolved issue.

Well, again, 529,000 new people employed in May.

Was there an specific Republican health care proposal? Because all I saw was an attempt to close down the ACA. I never even saw the outline of a replacement from the Republicans in Congress, or Trump's White House. Not even a sketch of an outline.

You are hinting the employment surge was caused by the safety of the ACA. A hint that could be arrested for vagrancy as it has no visible means of support.

Not at all - you are mis-inferring. I merely pointed out that Trump said he had a plan to replace the ACA with something better. However, the only thing the Republicans really did was try to end it. Trump said he had another plan that would cover more people, with better care, cheaper. But then they never even released an outline of such a plan, or tried to explain how it would work. The whole thing was just political theater to try to disassemble Obama's legacy. There never was a better Republican alternative - it was all a lie. And if he had succeeded, millions would now be without healthcare.

I actually suspect that healthcare might slightly increase the labor shortage because people don't need a job to get decent healthcare. So, if the paycheck is not the issue, but healthcare is (for a given person), they might have the luxury of waiting for the right job. If that forces employers to sweeten the incentive structure, then so be it.

Neither party cares about anything except remaining in Washington and increasing their power to tell the common man how he is going to live his life. Meanwhile they enrich themselves and enjoy a much better health care system and retirement. They take care of themselves and throw us crumbs, very small crumbs. I wouldn't insult a snake by comparing any of them, democrat ot republican, to a snake or even a weasel for that matter.
