The American Political Divide: What is it?

The American Political Divide: What is it?

I'm reasonably convinced there is an underlying movement to eliminate currency as we know it, in favor of cashless transactions at all levels. There is no law that obligates anyone (other than the US Treasury, for tax payments) to accept paper money, coins, or anything other than whatever...

The American Political Divide: What is it?

Just prior to abandoning the gold standard you could literally take US dollars and exchange them for gold at $35 an ounce, then take that gold to France or wherever and sell it for more than the equivalent of $35 an ounce. Take those now-devalued dollars back to the US, and repeat, without...

The American Political Divide: What is it?

It's easy to lay blame for abandonment of the gold standard at Nixon's feet, but the reason is a lot more complicated than that and predated Nixon's presidency by decades. The creation of the International Monetary Fund was the product of a worldwide socialist organization dedicated to the...

The American Political Divide: What is it?

I'm also an airline Captain. In that capacity you're constantly thinking in those terms. What if this, what if that. Regardless of the question you must always have an answer you're prepared to defend. "That can't happen" is not an acceptable answer. UA232 comes to mind. A triple hydraulic...

The American Political Divide: What is it?

That is its only criterion. It demonstrates success at test-taking. I know plenty of very intelligent people who just don't have that ability. And it's Mensa, not MENSA. It's not an acronym.

The American Political Divide: What is it?

Thank you for your insights Gridley. I'm also an engineer - a PE, having been licensed in three US states - and a member of Mensa "the high IQ society." As such I'd like to share my observations regarding those two groups of people often thought of as smarter than most. Growing up I always had...

I refuse to wear a mask

I am not responsible for your health. If you are sickly or prone to illness, then take precautions appropriate to your needs. I shall not address your specious questions.

I refuse to wear a mask

Wearing a hat or coat is your decision. I do not impose my will upon others. Wearing a diaper over my face is my decision. Do not impose your will upon me.

    The Covid scam

Well... it's not exactly a scam. It's real, and people die of it. However, the fact it has been exploited by control freaks is beyond dispute, as is the fact said control freak's overreaction has resulted in widespread damage, misery and yes, more death than would have resulted if they had done...

I refuse to wear a mask

I tried wearing a mask, a few times. Each time I last about twenty minutes before I become uncomfortable and panicky, like I'm suffocating. It takes about an hour to fully recover. No more masks for me.

    Anyone catch COVID-19 yet?

Positive or negative, who cares? False positives, false negatives? Doesn't matter. Whichever way it goes you could fall out of favor next month or next year or whenever. Count me out.

I refuse to wear a mask

I don't wear a mask either. My peripheral vision got obstructed which I didn't even notice until I cut my shin on a metal box lying on the floor of the supermarket. The owner of small grocery store I liked to frequent for years admonished me for not wearing a mask. I told her I won't be back...

    Anyone catch COVID-19 yet?

We all also learn the overreaction at all levels was not only unjustified but harmful  With each day this totally unscientific fear-based lockdown continues we are dying. Not only economically, but socially, and literally. Dying.

    Anyone catch COVID-19 yet?

I think so, and great, respectively. So what does that mean? It gets a little involved so bear with me. Back in the end of January I developed a slight cough, which was unusual to say the least because I have never been sick a day in my life. Literally. A runny nose now and then sure, but I've...
