So Now........A Whole FORUM Just for Political Whining?

I thought this was a forum with news on gun forums being shut down.

Instead it's just general political complaining.

Amazed and confused here.

I think it's a useful outlet for those who feel a need to express something that's outside the range of what's allowed on another forum. Yes, some of it's "political whining" but there's actually a pretty fair amount of reasonably intelligent and well-expressed opinion on various topics posted here. Much more so than you'd ever find on one of those social media platforms where the content is about 99.9% "whining".

I suppose you're correct.

As long as it stays intelligent and well-expressed we're fine........holding it under control to stop ugly personal attacks is going to require some vigorous moderation once the real extremists get here.

I think the key to a forum like this is some enlightened and very light moderation. Moderators have opinions, too. It's difficult sometimes to separate opinion from policy, as policy derives from the owners' and operators' opinions. It's up to the admins and the mods to effect those policies regardless of their personal opinions. Been there, done that, from both sides. ;)

I'm not talking about opinion, I'm talking about filthy language and personal attacks.

Opinions, even extreme opinions, should be expressed politely.

I agree 100% about the LIGHT moderation. The ridiculous amount of over moderation is why I don't go to The High Road much anymore. That and the double standard that allows some of the moderators to get away with behavior that would get everyone else warned or banned.

Of course --- that's off base in any medium where an exchange of opinions, thoughts and experiences is the reason for being.

That being said, it needs to be understood that criticism of what a person thinks as represented by what that person has said is not a "personal attack". There's always going to be someone that gets offended by whatever is said about anybody.
