Oh, the irony...

With the present dangling of even more stimulus carrots, I had a moment of reflection that would probably be unnerving to some of the more progressive lawmakers:
To date, I've received $1800 that our Federal Gov't determined I needed (didn't need it, but thanks!). In the neighborhood of $1600 of that money has been spent on firearms or reloading components. Anyone else following along those lines? Quite a few people I've talked to have.

Wonder if the Democrats pushing the new stimulus bill forward would be disheartened if they knew?

So take that anti-gun liberals!!!
(But yeah, thanks for the mini14, 1911 mags and powder)

I'm in a similar boat, where I've received 2 stimulus checks that I fortunately didn't need. I haven't spent any of it on guns & ammo though since everything I want is in a perpetual state of "unavailable", "out of stock", or "overdue".

I suppose that's for the best though, since the prices of the things that are available have gotten down right stupid.

I've used it to buy solar panels, batteries and related gear - for the next time that the government screws up.
I'm probably going to use the next installment to buy a truck - it's good to have a back-up.
Anyway, I promised myself one last year... .

These stimulus checks are not for your and my benefit. It's for buying votes, pure and simple. And you and I get stuck with the bill...tax hikes are acomin'.
Well of course. My kid asked if he gets part of the money I get for him. I said "yeah, your future kids will too. The part where you pay it back".

Plenty of undeserving folks have been on the receiving end of our tax dollars, for years in a lot of cases. I don't feel guilty in the least.

My stimulus checks went toward food and rent. I wouldn't have needed them if my asshole of a governor hadn't forced my business to close, but as it is, I figure if the government prevents me from making a living, then the government can pay my bills. (With apologies to those whos taxes are paying my bills.)

And there's the problem with the whole mess. People on welfare, disability, drawing social security, etc...should have never gotten a dime. People like me who's job was only marginally impacted (bit of a slowdown, bit of lost wages due to less work, but in reality less than 5% difference) shouldn't have gotten a dime.

People who lost jobs, wages, etc due to forced closures should have gotten the lion's share of whatever help was given. The insistence to give EXTRA money to people who were already getting paid for doing nothing is as ludicrous now as it was the first time.

I'm in complete agreement. In fact, I'd go a step further. If the government shut your business down and put you out of a job with an unconstitutional order/mandate, then they should pay your full salary as if you were still working and continue to do so until they fix the mess that they created.

And I say that as someone who doesn't believe in any kind government mandated safety net, welfare, etc...

Pretty much the exact point of the stimulus.

That's not even close.

Well, yeah. The exact point of the stimulus is to gain votes for the Democrats. It didn't work on me, because I recognize that it was the Democrats who created the need to stimulate me in the first place (minds out of the gutter, gentlemen) but that really is not the point. The point is whether it worked on enough other people to result in the election of more Democrats, and we won't know about that for another few years.

Not that I disagree with the point you just made, but weren't the first 2 "stimulus" checks under Trump? The first one was for sure. The second was kinda close. Maybe in the lame duck period?

They were, and they came with 'TRUMP' on them, just to make sure folks knew that it came from him.

Yes, I should have written that the point is to gain votes for the party.

I don't care who's name is on the bottom, as long as mine is in the line that says "payable to".

I felt weird the first time. Like I should donate it to charity. Then I drove down the road and into town, circled past all the section 8 housing and realized I donate to charity every time I get paid. Again, when I was picking up groceries and the folks ahead of me were buying crab legs and cases of Coke with their EBT card. My relatively short guilt trip ended there.

Feel free to send more gun money.
