SCOTUS replacement for RBG

Hey all,
Hope everyone's feeling good.
I want to hear opinions and ideas on what should rightfully be done with the vacant SCOTUS seat.
My opinion is that with how terribly the left has treated Trump in his first term , he should assert his right to select another justice. There has been nothing but endless investigations , accusations , blocking of legislation and rage toward the Trump administration . Relentless lies and no signs of the left wanting to work together , now they want a favor. If it were my choice I'd make certain it was the quickest confirmation of a justice in history . Will the left become civil if Trump respects their wish to wait until after the election? Of course not. If the left was in the position to appoint another justice do you think they'd wait? Of course not. They're asking for favors from a man who has done nothing but take repeated attack from this party of communists . I say replace RBG , win re-election , get another SCOTUS pick or 2 in Trump's second term and obliterate the left in every single way possible. The time for being friends with democrat party operatives was over before Trump's first term began, when they called for his impeachment before inauguration. Do what we elected you for Mr. President , make these snowflakes melt!

What I think is, there's too much BS in politics right now. What we need are Justices that don't follow politics, and interpret the Constitution as impartially as is possible.

Why Americans hate other Americans so much, I just don't know. Most of what divides this country is just propaganda. We've got more in common than in contrast.

Any nominee for the SCOTUS should be equally acceptable to the Republicans and the Democrats. The fact that none are just goes to show neither party has the People's best interest in mind.

Your daddies Democratic Party no longer exists. The left is evil pure and simple and if they hate the principals under which our country was founded they ain’t Americans either. I say nominate a conservative and they can do so before they shovel dirt over Ginsburg as far as I’m concerned.

At least on paper, it's fairly straightforward. The President is Constitutionally obligated to put forward a nominee, and the Senate is Constitutionally obligated to "advise and consent". Of course, it doesn't happen that way any more and hasn't since Robert got Borked.

Regardless, that it doesn't now happen that way does not mean that it should not, so I hope and expect Trump to nominate someone. That will almost certainly result in the Senate doing all the sorts of things we've come to expect from the Senate, but oh well.

Although I will make one correction: it has happened that way since Bork - but only to the nominees of Democrat Presidents.

Sadly, that is no longer possible. The Democrats simply will not accept any nominee put forward by a Republican president, and vice versa. Trump could appoint Joe Biden himself and they'd immediately turn on him. (OK. That's partially in jest.)

Shameful really, how divided our politics have become. Especially because we all live together, and are more similar than different.

The political left in this country seek to destroy our constitution and the very fundamentals our country was founded under. They in my opinion are not true Americans and therefore are are our enemies. Citizens on the left are for the most part just plain ignorant of what is really going on here and they are the ones we have the most in common with. We just have different ideals and the Constitution that the political left seeks to destroy gives them the right to those ideals. Given the political climate these days I see no hope in finding a middle ground and this will eventually lead to another civil war. I pray to God it doesn’t come to this.

I actually hope it does; then maybe we can settle this BS and get rid of these Nazis once and for all

Barrett is a terrible choice. Her opinions are decidedly skewed to the right and tainted with her radical religious beliefs.
A bronze age middle-eastern religion like Christianity has no place in a Western nation and certainly no place in the body that arbitrates its laws.

Plus, the Republicans were quite happy to hold up a supreme court nomination for more than 6 months in the hopes of changing the party in control of the White House. If we are to apply the same thinking McConnell gave four years ago, the winner of this election should be the one to fill the vacancy. Turn about is fair play, no? If a person violates the rules of decorum, you don't stand there and hope they stop. When your kid sticks his finger in the cake to lick the icing off, you don't wait for him to realize his error, you smack his hand and make him stand in the corner.

After the Kavanaugh hearings I wouldn’t care if Trump dug up the corpse of Pol Pot and nominated it for SCOTUS. The rules of normal conduct are out the window Democrats need to be punished.
